About Us

The Gujarati Samaj of New York was established as non-profit organization in 1974 by about 100 first generation Gujaratis mostly all professionals and in twenties and thirties. They were determined to form a Samaj on a linguistic basis. Today it is one of the oldest and vibrant organization in the tristate area serving the Gujarati and other communities. Original By-Laws of the Samaj was approved in 1974 and later in August 1996 the by-Laws were amended in order to provide stability and thus further strengthen the Samaj as it enters to the next millennium.

Gujarati Samaj of New York (GSNY) is a cultural and educational non-profit organization based in Queens, New York. It is one of the largest cultural organizations in the USA, with thousands of members and supporters originating from Gujarat state (India) residing in the New York. GSNY holds many exciting cultural and recreational events that bring the Gujarati community together, and keeps the light of our culture alive for the next generation.

As of today, the Samaj life membership has reached over 2600. Over last 48 years the Samaj has conducted several activities to promote Gujarati/Indian religious and culture and amongst tristate New York area residents. In 1985 the Samaj acquired its own 12,000 sf center located in Fresh Meadows, Queens, New York. The Center can accommodate up to 700 people. The center is used mainly for Samaj activities. In 2009-2010 the Center was rehabilitated. Several thousand members of the tristate area are using the Center for family events. In addition, several other ethnic organizations are taking benefit of the central location to conduct their events at the center.

We invite you to join us and participate at our various events and festivals like Holi, Gujarat Day, Indian Independence Day, Navratri, Diwali, etc. We seek to unite Gujaratis of all backgrounds and heritage to deliver a better future for the current and future generations. GSNY strives to give back to the community by providing a platform for areas of Cultural development, youth development, health fairs, women's empowerment, seniors' activities, and more.

We invite you to join us and participate at our various events and festivals like Holi, Makarsankranti, Diwali, Navratri, cultural dramas, plays and Bollywood concerts, etc. We seek to unite Gujaratis of all backgrounds and heritage to deliver a better future for the current generating and the generations ahead. GSTB strives to give back to the community by providing a platform for areas of philanthropy, youth development, health fairs, women's empowerment, seniors' activities, and more.
